Refined and Specialty Oils

At Watson and Fine, we believe that refined and renewable oils offer a crucial opportunity to create a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future. As demand for energy continues to grow, it is important that we explore and invest in all available options in order to reduce our reliance on traditional fossil fuels.

Refined oils, also known as “clean fuels,” are produced through the refinement of crude oil. This process removes impurities and contaminants, resulting in a cleaner-burning fuel that has a lower carbon content and emits fewer pollutants. In addition, refined oils are more efficient, with a higher energy content per unit of volume.

Renewable oils, on the other hand, are produced from sustainable plant and animal sources. These include biofuels such as ethanol and biodiesel, as well as plant-based oils like camelina sativa, sunflower oil, and soybean oil. Renewable oils have a much lower carbon footprint than fossil fuels, as the carbon dioxide released during their use is offset by the carbon dioxide absorbed by the plants during their growth.
